Norman’s Triumphant Return to West Hartford!

Published by admin on

On October 27, 2019, Norman returned to Connecticut to perform with the West Hartford Symphony Orchestra.

This marks Norman’s triumphant return to the West Hartford stage after an astounding performance with the orchestra 3 years ago. Norman performed  “Diversions” Benjamin Britten’s concerto for the left hand.  Despite the ever-present nervousness Norman experiences before every concert, Norman did a wonderful job before an appreciative audience!

Congratulations Mr. Malone!

You may not remember me, but you were the Bass Section Director of the Chicago All-City High School Chorus when I auditioned for you in 1981. I knew that I was up against some of the best voices in the Chicago Public School System, and most of those kids could read music. When you asked me if I could read [music], my heart sank. I quietly said “No, I don’t.” Your response? “That’s ok, you’ll learn”.

Over the next four years, you helped me find my voice, and myself. Saturday MORNINGS were never that much fun, after leaving All-City in ’85.

Thank you “Uncle Norman”, for teaching a boy how to sing what he could not say, and to believe in myself enough to try. Especially when Dr. Cates called me out for singing a Baritone line in place of the young man that was supposed to, because he wasn’t at rehearsal that week.

Sincerely,
Andrew McFall III
